My submission for Game Boy Jam 10. The goal is to avoid the guards, plant the bomb, and then get to the exit before time runs out. In some levels, you also get coins that can be flicked to distract guards when they land.

Move: WASD / arrow keys
Plant bomb: space / Z when next to computer
Flick coin: X / left shift (once to start power meter, again to flick)

This was my first jam that I did absolutely everything myself in without using external assets. I usually outsource most of the audio and models/sprites. I don't have much experience with art, and while I play physical instruments, I haven't done much in the way of creating digital audio. Overall, I didn't quite get the finished product to be where I wanted it to be (who does on a game jam?), but I'm happy with what I learned in the areas I got outside of my comfort zone in.

The primary inspiration was the first Grand Theft Auto. Others were Hotline Miami, Metal Gear Solid, and Zelda. I picked the name Saboteur because I thought it was the kind of simple, uninspired name that you might actually find from old Game Boy games.

I used https://sfxr.me/ for the sound effects, Aseprite for the pixel art, and FL Studio with the Magical 8 Bit VST here: https://ymck.net/app/magical-8bit-plug-en.
